Diversity, Inclusion & Equity

We commit as a yoga union branch to holding ourselves to account by ensuring that diversity is part of our values system from the beginning and that we as a branch will put diversity into action by continually doing the work, expanding our networks, to include those communities who have been historically and systematically overlooked.  

We  seek to promote diversity inclusion and equity in our internal structures, external campaigns, events and in our leadership. Our work in this area will include;

  1. Fostering a yoga community that centres solidarity. We want to uplift opportunity and resources within the wider yoga community, and will develop a hub where you can find links to a diverse range of experts, trainers and resources that are led by and support the uplift of BAME groups, LGBTQI folx, and those that address ableism and promote body size inclusivity.

  2. We will hold studios and yoga event organisers to account around diversity and inclusion, developing accessible tools, such as studio audits, for our members to highlight missing voices and campaign for change.

  3. Challenging the industry to be more inclusive in its communications and imagery. This means moving beyond the performative, and collectively making an effort to ensure our offerings are more accessible to everyone in the community.
